A Simple Way to Care For Your Pet’s Teeth
Yes, You should try to brush your pets teeth and take them in for regular dental care just like your own teeth. In reality, some pets seem to tolerate teeth cleaning, but some will fight you. If I ever tried to put a pet tooth brush in a pets mouth before… you may understand. I have one Chihuahua that likes it OK and one that just hates it.
But, it’s not much different than your own kids either. I don’t know many kids that will sit still while mom brushes their teeth? You might have better luck standing in front of them and watching while they brush their own teeth.
EvoraPet Probiotic Oral Care for Cats & Dogs simplifies feline and canine dental care by letting you use a supplement rather than manual care. The product comes in a powder touted as odorless and tasteless. I recently tried it out on my dogs and cats and found that it did make a difference. My 3 cats eats dry food from the same dish, so it’s hard to monitor how much each cat is getting, but my Chocolate Lab will eat anything and licks her bowl clean every time she eats : )
Will Finicky Pets Eat It?
EvoraPet Probiotic Oral Care for Cats & Dogs comes in a 30 or 60 day supply. You simply add a spoonful of the powder to your pet’s food, and let them eat it up! The beneficial probiotics go to work.
That sounds simple in theory, but would my 2 fussy Chihuahua’s detect something different about their dinner and reject it? The first night, I added the powder with their Beneful Dog Food. I put down the bowls, stepped back to watch… and they ate it! They nibbled at their dinner without the slightest hesitation. The tasteless/odorless claims must be true, based on their reaction (or lack of one).
Brighter Teeth, Fresher Breath
EvoraPet Probiotic Oral Care for Cats & Dogs promises to whiten your dog or cat’s teeth and freshen the animal’s breath. My Chihuahua’s were put to the test, one is a two-year-old with okay teeth, but the five-year old has the world’s worst breath, which has plagued her ever since she was out of being a puppy.
Both Chihuahua Dogs received an equal dose of probiotics. You’re supposed to see results within a week, but I didn’t really pay much attention until about 3 or 4 weeks later. My doggies eat morning and night. They don’t always get the full dose because they only eat until they are full, so there usually is food left.
Not surprisingly, my younger Chihuahua, showed the least effect from the probiotics, but his teeth were pretty good and he didn’t have bad breath really. My older Chihuahua definitely had brighter teeth, but despite her whiter smile, she still had bad breath. I think she has a tooth that really should be pulled, I’ll have to have the vet look at that, but I suspect once that tooth is gone, she would definitely have better breath.
My Chocolate Lab definitely has whiter teeth. She didn’t really have bad breath before, so it’s hard to say if it is better and my 3 cats is kind of hard to tell? Like don’t like me playing in their mouth and they never really get close enough to smell their breath. Hopefully it’s helping their teeth health.
I imagine that probiotics interact differently with the bacteria in individual pets, so results probably vary. I can say that Probiotics are among the recommended Pet Supplements for cats and dogs, and while you might normally think of them for digestion, they do seem to benefit teeth, too. I recommend Probiotics and Prebiotics everyday for Humans too… my whole family takes these supplements.
